Mahleb is the seed of St. Lucie cherries, which is typically grown in the Mediterranean. It offers a unique nutty, sweet aroma. This fragrant spice is a key ingredient in Armenian sweet bread, known as Choreg, Armenian braided cookies (known as Kekhke), and various baked goods in Mediterranean cuisine. It has a wet sand consistency and is known to naturally clump.
